Tom Clausen receives Award

Presidential Award presented to worthy Lion

May 17, 2003 --    Lion Tom Clausen, second from right, received the prestigious Lions Presidential Award at the State Lions Convention last May in Oconomowoc.  The award is the second highest award presented to a Lion by Lions Clubs International.  Clausen was also awarded the Lions Leadership Award at the State Convention in 2001 in Appleton.

Clausen has been a Lion in the club since September 1974 and has been president twice, secretary-treasurer for several years before becoming the Zone Chairman in 1992 for 4 years.  He then became Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer for Gov. John Damrow in 96 and Gov. Pat Champeau in 97 before becoming  governor himself in 1999.  He continues to serve above the club level as the State and District IT Chairman, the district newsletter editor and state and district webmaster.

The award is given to Lions not just for their work in Lions, but for other community service as well.  Clausen has been the president of his church, a Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master, and a member of the National Ski Patrol at Indianhead Mountain for 31 years.
